Loraine’s Implant story
I was originally recommended to Dr Peter Young’s dental practice in Northwich by my dentist Dr Caldwell at The Alders Dental Practice in Newton-le-Willows.
I had actually lost a tooth and I didn’t like the idea of having a plate. My dentist had also investigated the possibility of having a bridge but unfortunately, the neighbouring tooth wasn’t strong enough to support it. I asked Dr Caldwell what he would do in my situation and he said that if I had the money for an implant I should go and see Dr Young, and that he had been successfully referring patients to him for many years. And so my implant journey began, I phoned and made an appointment with one of his team.
I researched the implant process online before my appointment. I thought that it looked very daunting but the thought of wearing a denture instead spurred me on. Dr Young explained everything very thoroughly in language that I understood – no jargon – and he really put me at my ease at every appointment. He took his time and I never felt rushed.
On the day of the implant itself, I was rather overcome with anxiety and nerves – I just didn’t really know what to expect. I had nothing to worry about. I can honestly say that I didn’t feel a thing- it really wasn’t a bad experience at all. My mouth was a little tender afterwards but it was soon settled with the use of paracetamol.
So now the treatment is complete the implant feels just like a normal tooth. I am much more conscious of my dental health now, in particular how important gum health is and I have regular 3 monthly hygienist treatments. I definitely would recommend Dr Young to others without question, in fact, a neighbour of mine came in recently and had 2 implants as a result of the care I received and the glowing report I gave him of my experience at the practice.
